The Rockstead produced the NEHAN from 2007 to 2010. At 2017 they decided to do updates to this model. This original model was designed by Koji Hara, a very famous custom knife maker. With the new NEHAN model the design is the same, but the materials are totally different. The new NEHAN is more high-ended than the original. Also this is the one of the highest quality folding knives available in the world with Rockstead's expertise.
The blade is ZDP-189 steel with their traditional mirror polished finish and locks up with a button lock mechanism. There are two different handle material options with the NEHAN: both are durable and feature the exact same milling pattern. The MB is "Artificial Marble", used in high-end kitchen countertops and the ER is "Ebonite", used in high-end fountain pens. These materials are fixed to titanium liners to give the knife strength and durability throughout. This design was imaged by folds of a Japanese Kimono, whilst the thumb stud was designed in the shape of a flower. This external design features are not the only elements that reflect the love of detail and the pursuit of perfection.
The real innovation of the NEHAN is the way in which the two halves of the handle are joined together. This was developed by ROCKSTEAD and shows the screws are contained entirely within the handle. Hence nothing can affect the harmony of the external image. Feels extremely comfortable and solid in the hand. Individually numbered.
The design of the knife sheath is new also. Whilst the first version of the NEHAN still incorporated a belt loop, the new one has a practical belt clip.
