The Rockstead REN-ZDP Dark Matter Black combines a mirror-polished Japanese tanto blade with Rockstead’s Honzukuri convex geometry and a more Western-influenced folding-knife design.
The name Dark Matter refers to the unseen substance believed to permeate galaxies, one of the great mysteries of the universe. The forged-carbon show side reflects that idea through a deep, irregular pattern that shifts with the light, giving each handle its own visual character. The handle pairs a Dark Matter Black forged-carbon show side with a titanium lock side. The titanium frame lock is fitted with a hardened lockbar insert, providing a durable engagement surface against the blade tang and protecting the titanium lock face from wear.
The blade runs on washers, consistent with Rockstead’s precisely fitted pivot construction. A titanium pocket clip is mounted on the lock side.
The REN-ZDP brings together two different design languages: a modern Western-style carbon-and-titanium folder and a distinctly Japanese tanto blade finished with Rockstead’s distortion-free mirror polish.
Each knife is individually serialized and accompanied by an inspection certificate stating the Rockwell hardness measured for that specific blade.
The REN-ZDP is supplied with its original Rockstead documentation and a Japanese paulownia wood presentation box.
